What to Wear When You Go Wine Tasting

Thanks prAna for providing clothes for this article. All opinions are 100% my own.

Since I live in the Willamette Valley it seems only natural that I should like (and write) about wine. I mean, like, if I have too. 😉

So, you’ve always wanted to go wine tasting and you’ve finally rounded up a couple of friends to enjoy the experience with. The only problem is you’re not sure what to wear. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. The first few times that I went wine tasting I spent way to much time contemplating and worrying about what I should wear.

The really short answer? Whatever you’re comfortable in! That is, besides your sweats. Don’t wear sweatspants.

When you’re out and about wine tasting you’ll see a little bit of everything. There will be people who are dressed casually and others take the opportunity to dress up a bit. I’ve done a bit of wine tasting in my day, and this is how I decide what I’m going to wear wine tasting:

Something comfy:

The last thing you want to do when you’re wine tasting is wear something that is too tight or that you are constantly having to adjust. Even if it’s something cute, it’s not worth being uncomfortable.

Weather appropriate:

Definitely check the weather prior to leaving. Tasting rooms are inside, but traveling too and from isn’t. Also, there may be opportunities for you to enjoy your wine outside of the tasting room or even tour the vineyards, so make sure that whatever you’re wearing isn’t going to create sweat stains or leave you with goose bumps.

Leave the heels at home:

Heels are cute. They are not cute when you are walking up to a tasting room from a gravel road and you end up falling. Unless you are 110% comfortable in high heels, wear flats or a short wedge. There will most likely be dirt, gravel, and uneven ground at some point.

When I personally go wine tasting I’ll wear some comfy pants, dress, or a maxi skirt + a cute top. PrAna makes some seriously comfortable clothes, many of which are made with organic cotton or hemp. They use a lot of recycled materials because they’re very planet friendly. PrAna’s clothing is great to where anywhere, “from city streets to mountain peaks” (even wine tasting!) They’re clothes are comfortable and versatile.

To great choices? The Petra top by prAna is soft and super comfy; plus it goes with anything. My favorite color? lacquered rose. Pair it with the Lizbeth Capri pant (in coal), add some sandals & a necklace and you’re definitely ready to go sip some wine!
