A Simple Summer Snack Idea

I always love coming up with simple summer snack ideas for the family. At home during the summer we seem to go through a lot of snacks. On hot days the kids would love to just lounge around eating stuff, but I know that the stuff they always want to eat isn’t necessarily that great. 😉

One way that I get them excited about being creative and trying new things is to have them help make the food, or in this case, re-create it. We adore Outshine® bars because they taste amazing because they are made with real fruit, veggies, or juice, and I love that they have no artificial colors or flavors – or high fructose corn syrup! The added colors in the bars come from natural sources.

In an attempt to create more family time together, I enlisted the kids in helping me make new flavor combinations with the Outshine® bars by dipping and decorating them at a little station I made. We dipped the bars in various delicious chocolates and then the kids topped the bars with things like almonds, pistachios, coconut, etc.

I then re-froze the bars on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and placed them each into freezer bags (if we didn’t consume them right away!)

The kids had a blast decorating their perfect summer snack.

To make a summer snack station you’ll need:

  • Outshine® bars
  • Melted chocolate – milk, dark, and white
  • Slivered almonds
  • Pistachios
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Any other creative toppings you can think of!
  • Place a disposable table cloth on top of a table for easy clean up!

Nearly half of the Outshine® products are  GMO-free. For more than 20 years, Outshine® has been making bars with delicious ingredients like strawberries, ripe mangoes, and juicy peaches. You can find them in the frozen section at your local Walmart.

Also, be on the lookout for samples happening at select Walmart stores on weekends from 5/21-7/14! 🙂

There is also a fun Outshine® sweepstakes going on! You can have a chance to win a $5,000 backyard refresh from Outshine® plus hundreds of daily summertime prizes you could win instantly. Text “Snack Brighter” to 30364, or enter at  walmart.com/outshine

What creative summer snack ideas do you have? I’d love to hear them!
